MLS Laser Therapy

What is the MLS Laser Therapy system?

The Multiwave Lock System, more commonly called the MLS Laser Therapy system, is a relatively new FDA-approved deep tissue laser treatment that uniquely emits dual waves of healing energy that penetrate beneath the skin about 4 to 5 cm to repair tissues and nerves. The laser’s two wavelengths are synchronized to promote a metabolic reaction in the cells. This reaction simultaneously stimulates healing, reduces inflammation and edema, and repairs superficial lesions. The MLS Laser Therapy system does this by increasing circulation and drawing water, oxygen, and nutrients to the damaged area. Treatment takes only about 10 minutes. Best of all, it is pain-free, drug-free, non-invasive and does not entail any downtime. Some patients say that they experience a warm sensation during therapy, but most don’t feel anything at all.

What are the most common ailments the MLS Laser Therapy system is used to treat?

At The Back Pain Center the most common problems the MLS Laser Therapy system is used to treat, include:

  • Invertebral disc disease/slipped or bulging discs
  • Degenerative Joint Disease
  • Arthritic Conditions
  • Musculoskeletal trauma (such as sprains, strains, and tears)
  • Inflammatory conditions
  • Sciatica
  • Pre and post-surgical back pain

How does MLS Laser Therapy differ from other laser treatments?

Currently, other lasers can not induce strong anti-inflammatory, anti-edema and analgesic effects simultaneously within a short period of time.

How many treatments are needed for maximum pain relief?

The Back Pain Center utilizes the latest model MLS Laser, the M6 – Robotic MLS Therapy System, which treats a large area of the body at once. Results can often be seen after the first treatment. However, for most patients, maximum benefits require 6 to 10 treatments. These are cumulative, typically delivered 2 to 3 times per week for 2 to 3 weeks.
